MICROSOFT VISUAL BASIC - SYSTEM ERROR &H8000FFFF

Each time I close Powerpoint, I received a message "Microsoft Visual Basic.
System Error &H8000FFFF (-2147418113). Catastrophic failure." I tried
re-starting Powerpoint it still didn't worked. I get the same error message.
I am using Office 2000.

I understand this problem also happens in excel and word. Grateful for any
help/advise.

Is the error happening for you in only PPT, or does it also happen in Word
and./or Excel?

You've received some suggestions in the PPT group for troubleshooting. Like
MVP Steve Rindsberg there, I'd suspect a faulty add-in. Adobe PDF Writer has
been implicated in this error in the past -- do you have the Acrobat PPT or
Office add-in(s) installed?

If I were you, I'd close PPT, search for all *.PPA files (these are PPT
add-ins), rename them to *.OLD, and see if PPT works better. If it does,
close PPT and rename the *.OLD files back to *.PPA one at a time until you
isolate the problem add-in. Of course, you'll need to turn on file
extensions in Windows to be able to do this.

This only happens in PPT for me. Someone mentioned in his reply that it
also happens in Excel and Word - I can't verify this.

I will try out your suggestion within the next few days and let you know the
outcome. Many thanks for your help.
