Microsoft Word for Windows XP, does it exist?

I have Windows XP and the computer came with Microsoft Works, that I
particularly do not care for. Does Microsoft offer products made specifically
for Windows XP, for example, Word, Excel, Access?

Yes - Word, Excel, and Access to name a few products. The current version is
2003. Chances are you didn't look to see that your computer didn't come with
Word. and even if you'd tried to find out, the text is small and the
salespeople don't know. About the only way to get Office on a new system is
to do a custom configure. Most "in the box" type systems come with
WordPerfect these days.

Are we allowed to mention WordPerfect?..

If OpenOffice can be mentioned/recommended, then I reckon I can say that
most low-end computers come with WordPerfect.

WordPerfect 5.2 was not the most successful transition from a DOS
application to Windows, and did set something of a precedent until Version
7.. later versions have reverted back to type again from what I have seen..
c'est la guerre..

The only dealings I have with WP is when I get reports from one of my fellow
guild members. I can open her files just fine but I literally just had to
send a converted file to others who couldn't open her attachment. (I also
included instructions on how to do it. Always providing tech support - 24/7)
