Microsoft words opens only through Adobe Acrobat

Dear members
After downloading Adobe Acrobat 8; Microsoft words stopped opening in the
proper mannar, to open any M/W document it opens with a dialogue box called
File Conversion box asking to select the encoding to make your document
readable, 1- Windows default 2- M:DOS 3- Other encoding.
I tried three of them what I get in the three options is a set of unreadable
codes, but when I right click on the icon and choose OPEN WITH ADOBE ACROBAT
the document opens in the proper manner, how can get it to open in the
normal manner i.e. to open right away by clickin on it and not by right
clicking and choose Adobe aacrobat.

Downloading Acrobat 8? Acrobat 9 I believe is the current version. Is this a
pirate copy of 8? Anything can happen with pirate software. Malicious
additional code is commonplace. Checkout your system with AV software and
Anti-Spyware software.

Acrobat of whatever version cannot open Word document files. It opens PDF
files. If by selecting Open with Acrobat , the document opens in Word, you
have managed to screw up the registry associations apparently for both Word
and Acrobat.

You could start by downloading and installing all the updates for Acrobat
8 - to be current it should be upgraded to version 8.1.7. Some of the
earlier releases were problematical.

Then repair Office, which should restore associations. If not - see
