"Mirror margins" is primarily for duplexed documents (those printed on both
sides of the paper). It allows you to have an "inside" and "outside" margin
instead of left and right, to allow for binding, hole punching, etc. You can
accomplish somewhat the same thing by adding a gutter, but in some cases the
results will be different.
