Missing a Chunk of Current Emails after Importing backup.pst

OS is Windows 2000, using Office 2000. After data recovery to a fixed hard drive, I re-installed Office 2000 and imported my saved "backup.pst" to my Personal Folders. I recovered everything except my last 4-5 months of emails (both sent and received). Also, mail rules were wiped out

I did a search on other *.pst files on the backup drive- nothing found. Any way to recover these missing emails
