missing fonts

Banana

In Word (and PowerPoint) it says that I have Times New Roman and it will type
in that font. When I click on the drop down box, however, it says that I have
Device cpi10, Device cpi12, and Device cpi17. And no other fonts.

I cannot use any other font in Word or other applications. I believe I have
Win XP professional. A friend gave me the computer and did not provide me
with the disks or anything else.

I am stuck. There are two things that may have attributed to this problem:
1) I uninstalled Adobe Reader 5 and installed Adobe Reader 7.0
2) I got a new keyboard installed in the laptop.

When I go to the control panel, there are several fonts listed. But, when I
get to Word -- nothing.

Please help!! Thank you so much!

Check the default printer. If you don't have one - ding ding ding. Install a
printer driver. (I use PrimoPDF on my craptop just so I don't have to
install a bogus driver. Plus it's nice to be able to create .pdf files on
it.)
