missing something in how I add resources?

Configuration: Project Server 2003, SQL Server 2005

I thought that I could add resources from the Enterprise Resource Pool page
in Project Professional and have those resources added to the Resource Pool
without them having PWA accounts. Everytime I add one though, it
automatically puts them in the Team Members group and adds them to my count
of users on the system. Not all of my resources will be using PWA; can't I
just add resources without them having an account on PWA?

Thanks,

Al

Ignore the system user count page. It's the most stupid page in the
interface. If you enter a vacuum cleaner as a work resource, it gets added
to the team member group and it gets a logon.

You are obligated to purchase and hold a CAL for each actual user on to the
system, not for each work resource in the resource pool that don't. The
system neither allows you to make the distinction nor can it make it for
itself.

In Project Server 2003, when you create a resource in the Enteprise Resource
Pool, the system automatically creates a user account for the resource in
PWA. There is no way to prevent this behavior. Sorry.

Gary and Dale - thanks for the quick reply. Yep that system user count
doesn't make any sense then, but on the bright side, I won't have to get a
CAL for my vacuum cleaner!

Thanks for the clarification!
