Hi there,

I am going crazy trying to find out how to add my own cover pages to the document elements, as well as modify existing designs etc.

Help would be most appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Gavin -

I'm afraid that's not an available option in Word 2008. Perhaps the next
major release will add the capability.

All of the Elements Gallery items are stored in a single, specialized .dotx
file. Although it can be unzipped to get to the components within, it can be
a total disaster unless you know exactly what you are doing. It's entirely
possible that you have the knowledge, but I couldn't begin to tell you how
to proceed. Perhaps someone else can provide some insights.

You can, however, create your own templates which may server the purpose and
you can also create Custom Themes.

Hi Bob:

Really, I don't think this is doable in Word 2008.

I mean, you could hack the XML in Document Elements.dotx with an XML Editor,
if you have one and you know XML really, REALLY well :)

Of you can open the thing and edit it in Word 2007, if you know what you are
doing.

Just be careful: You can't use any kind of Element except the ones that
currently exist in Word 2008 -- it won't recognise new types.

Hope this helps (a little...)
