Monthly Cost estimates

I have a six month project with projected spend data for the six individual
months. The costs are budget figures only and are not based on estimated
resources. Is there anyway I can create a task in project with a duration of
six months and a total cost of £x and then be able to go into Task usage View
and edit the spread costs at the monthly level? If I was using resources it
would let me do this by altering the work in each month, but we are not
considering resources here.

This is for a conceptual op-down portfolio Schedulling model.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Steve,
you can do this with the Baseline cost : in the Task Usage view, insert the
Baseline Cost field : Format / Detail style ? / Baseline Cost

Thanks Gerard, this allows me to enter an initial set of costs against each
month but they then don't move if I move the task dates.

I am using the Task Usage view split with the normal Gantt View. I enter
the baseline costs in at monthly intervals and then drag the Gantt task bars
to move the dates out further in the future. I would expect the costs to
move also but theyw on't.
