More color with "Font Color" and "HighLight" area

Kinasti

Hi

When using OneNote 2007, I found in "Font Color" and "Highlight" default
button have very limited color to choose. Font Color have 40 color, and
Highlight have 15.

Is it possible to have more color?

Thanks

Those color choices are hardcoded into the program and cannot be modified
or added to.

Thanks for your reply.

I don't understand why OneNote is less color choices than the other Office
2007 programs.

Thank you again

Part of that is in keeping with the paper metaphor that OneNote uses. On
real paper, one does not normally employe 100s of colors of pens or
highlighters. Many people on this forum have asked for more colors, and
perhaps MS will respond in a future version. MS folks do monitor the
newsgroups and pass feedback to the appropriate folks internally.

RightyRight!
AFAICS hardly anybody uses more than 2 or 3 highlihters (at the max) …

This logic is ridiculous. Most people use only 15,000 words or so--so, by your logic, a spell-checker should have only the most-used words, Amazon should sell only what most people want to buy, etc.

The point is that people spend hard-earned money on hardware, software, books, training, etc., and invest in capable state-of-the-art monitors, printers, and operating systems that can easily display/print millions of colors. Why would a software program made in 2008/2009 limit a user to only 16 basic colors for highlighting? Even FREE programs offer a "customize" option for color choices.

Trying to defend OneNote's oversight is silly. It should offer the full palette of colors, period.

Not to defend but to explain:

There is a consistency to the overall paper/notebook metaphor used in ON.

Can you go to your local OfficeStapleDepotMax office supply store and get a
highlighter in any of the full palette of colors? You *might* be able to
get any color you want in a pen or marker, but those don't work well as
highlighters.

Unless it will cost microsoft a lot of money to include this feature, it
would seem like a quick change to satisfy their creative users. It would
also bring one note in line with MS Word choices.

At anyrate I don't get on a computer and expect the same limitations as I do
with paper and pen. But using your "logic" the highlighting choices should
be in line with the ink choices of lighter colors - light lavender, light
blue, light green. Yes I have six different color highlighters and use 50
different color markers when I write. I use 12 different color file folder
wih coodinating hanging folders and buy multicolor notebooks. But I always
did color outside the lines.

Laurel,
obviously you jumped in an ooooooold thread which is no longer available
on the MS NewsServer :-( :-(
The way things are appearing when someone comes through "Egghead"
instead of coming through the native NS-channels is very bad {siiiigh}.

This sad: The issue is a thing of the past.
Have a look at the new version ON2010 (available as a part of Office
2010 Beta).
You'll see that a lot has been done on everything related to colours.
