more than one outlook proccess in task manager

When I open and close outlook 2003 using XP the proccess remains open. Then
when I open and close again there is another proccess. I had a total of 20 of
these. I have no viruses or spyware and have run all the updates. Can anyone
help me with this and tell me why this happens?

Do you synch Outlook to a handheld? Do you have any Add Ins or COMs that may
hold Outlook open?

no. I use two profiles for outlook. so when i close and re-open it keeps a
proccess in the background. I am aware of outlook having background usually
remaining open. proccess but the issue seems to be it will not revert to the
running one and starts a new one. for some reasonit will keep opening a new
proccess.

If you see this then something is wrong and something is keeping Outlook
open when it should't be, as Ms. orland said. See this:

You can't switch between profiles unless Outlook completely closes.

Thank you for your assistance: I found a fax excange that was remaining
active. So when I would close outlook and open it under the other profile it
would remain and not revert to the open proccess. Turning off the fax
exchange solved the issue.
