mov does not play in powerpoint

I have several .mov files that play fine outside of pp. When I try to insert
them into pp they show up in design mode with do not play. I will hear the
first 3 or 4 notes and the screen stays the same.

PowerPoint only accepts QuickTime vers. 1 or 2. How did you insert the files?
What version of QT are they? Can you convert them to WMV? If so you're likely

Solved my problem. After reading the info from the two great links you
provided, I checked my registry and found that installing Quick Time changed
my registry so that all .mov files would be funneled through it. I went in
per the info on the link and changed it back to MPEGVideo and everything
started working again. Thanks!!

Have a similar problem as windigo.
Tried all the above and no joy. My Registry settings are all set to MPEGVideo.
I used to be able to insert QT movies into my PowerPoint and they would play.
Now when I insert them (insert --> object --> QuickTime movie) they insert
fine.
When I run the PowerPoint the movie opens but does not play.
All I can think that is different is I have upgraded my QuickTime to 6.5.2.
Any help would be appreciated as I am a High School teacher and it was nice
having the movie open when I clicked onto the slide. Clicking on an action
button works but is not as elegant.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
