After discussing my problem with 5 different Tech support
people with MSN and MS Outlook 2000 product support, they
were not aware of a change in Outlook 2000 I finally
identified last night. The change occurred with the new
Service Pac updates for XP and Office 2000 as near as I
can tell. But no one seems to know about it. Prior to
the update one was able to set up a mail account with
being able to pick up mail on one account (such as your
company's email server) and send outgoing mail via
another provider (such as MSN). You can no longer do
this after the service pac updates. Also the log on to
MSN through the Outlook Account dialogues must not be
preceded by MSN/ any longer with the new updated
Outlook. Interestingly enough I still have a non
updated version of Outlook 2000 on my laptop (Windows
2000)and the ability to receive and send using two
different mail servers still works. And MSN/ preceding
your account name is still needed.
