MS Office 2003 question

I recently had to do a system reformat of my computer (not sure if I said
that right..) but anyway, I noticed that among the many other programs that
were installed such as the AOL free trial, Encarta, etc. MS office 2003 was
also. It states MS Office Standard 2003 in add/remove programs.
When I click on it, it goes to an install, and then asks for a product key
#. My question is...why would this be on my computer if it didn't come
with a key or the full version? I didn't install it. Should I remove it?
It is in the add/remove programs.
Thanks

Hi Robin,

A number of computer manufacturers included a 60 day trial copy of MS Office 2003. The CD key, and likely a CD, would often be
included along with the other items in the 'envelope of stuff' that comes with new PCs.

Thanks. Yea, if it did, it's long gone. This PC is a year and a month old.
I have no idea where I put all that stuff and we have moved since..LOL.

You don't suppose MS would give me another key, do you?

Nope. The office 2003 trials are already out of service. Its the time of
Office 2007 now.

And I think your RESTORE disk given by the computer manufacturer restores
the office whenever you do a restore. Thats probably why you still have that
in your computer.

I did not get a RESTORE disk. My HP has a restore built in. So I guess I
will just have to uninstall the whole mess, right? :)
