MS Office on a network

Hi,

I have a client that is currently running office xp on their Toshiba laptop.
The laptop meets all the specs for office XP. While the laptop is hooked up
to the business network and they open word or any other office progam, it
takes a while to open up, usually about 5 seconds. When the network cable is
unplugged, the applications open up straight away. On every other system
they have seen it opens up straight away while the network cable is plugged
in.

Has anyone seen this before or does anyone know what could be causing this
to happen?
