MS Office Security Bulletin for November 2003.

Hi,
i'm using Word 2000 patched to SR1.
The next week I have applied the last security patch
that Microsoft released for Word 2000.
Now fields as
{includetext c:\\myexample.doc}
can't update automatically
because the radio button
"automatic" or "manual"
under menu "modify",
"links ..."
is disabled.

Any suggestion or idea?

Tnx in advance.

Bye.

Yes, I have read that article and tried that solution
before writing in this ng, but don't work.

When I thought about this again I realised that (as far as I can remember)
you have never been able to mark INCLUDETEXT fields as Automatic, only LINK
fields. I wonder if you have been inserting your doc files using
cut-and-paste-special|paste link in the past?

I don't have inserted my doc files using cut-and-paste-special|paste.
I have released an application where there is a mailmerge from Word
to SQL Server Database through a ODBC connection.
I have had the problem to include "large formatted text" in a field
and, something one year ago, I spoke with you about macros to format this
"large text".
After I found the solution of "includetext" and the field of database in SQL
Server
had the fully qualified path of the text included like
\\server1\mytexts\mytext1.doc
and the final word document was like
{mailmerge [MYTEXT]}
where
[MYTEXT] = {includetext \\server1\mytexts\mytext1.doc}

this solution worked correctly until 18/11/2003
with automatic update while scrolling my records in mailmerge.

After application of the security patch this solution can't work.

Thank's.

Hello Edoardo,

Thanks for the reminder.

Unfortunately, I haven't got any further on this one yet but will get back
to you if I find out anything more.

Sorry Peter,
but your solution was right.
I tried with a pc without patches for Office 2000
and *includetext* couldn't mark for automatic update too,
also I tried to open my doc files liked to sql server database
and this file worked correctly.
I have read again your response.
Now I apply the solution of kb330554 on a pc
with Office 2000 patched and my file work right.

Thanks.
Bye.
