MS PictureIt!

I love MS PictureIt! and have used it for years, but now that I have Vista,
it just won't work at all. Does anyone know how to make it work in Vista? I
would appreciate any advice so very much. Thanks.

There are a number of apps that wont run on Vista, and some that will, with
a few problems. Perhaps its time to move on.

Hi J.V.,

There are a couple of versions of MS PictureIt! that can be 'made to work' on Windows Vista, some with a bit of work, but most won't
just install and run, even in Admin mode. You may want to use the link below to the PictureIt discussion group and when posting
there include the version of MS PictureIt! you're trying to work with.

Hi Peter...

Here's the answer I posted in the Publisher ng.

(FWIW...MS Digital Image Suite 2006
Anniversary Edition is optimized for Vista)

If you are referring to the 2001 or 2002 version
of Picture It!...it will not run correctly on Vista.

If you would like to experiment...maybe the
following articles would be useful:

prevent a program from being installed correctly

does not run as expected after it is installed

There are several compatibility updates available
for Vista but as far as I know...they do not improve
the issues with Picture It! 2001 - 2002.

You may be right, DL, but I don't want to give up without a fight and I
haven't heard the old lady sing yet! But thanks for your input.

If Picture It 2001 does not work with Vista Business , is there another
program that will let me edit PI files I have saved....all my business
posters and flyers are in this format so I need to edit and update on my
Vista computer.

Obviously I don't want to instal an expensive new program just for this one
machine when my Office Works is what I use on all my XP machines with PI.

Any suggestions?
Mark

There is no such program/suite as "Office Works". There is Office and there
is Works. Tow entirely separate critters.

I assume you have your files in the .mix format?

=============================
MS Picture It! 2001 .mix files can be opened
and edited with the current version of MS
Digital Image Suite.

The most recent 2006 version is optimized
for Vista: "Microsoft Digital Image Suite
Anniversary Edition"...Amazon and eBay
are good sources for hard to find software.

There's a 60 day trial version available for
download if you would like to give it a try:

Microsoft Digital Image
Starter Edition 2006
http://tinyurl.com/28loxr
(this product line has been
discontinued but you can still
download the Starter Version
and run it for 60 days)

Unlike the retail version...the trial does not
have the ability to create VCDs and it does
not include the clipart and pre-formatted
projects.

I have the same problem with PictureIt! 2000. I get a message box of Access
Denied. I was able to run the program in the "Run as Administrator" mode in
the right click menu. I hope this will work for you too.

Thanks, Mich for your input. I'll try your suggestion and, if it works for
me, I'll let you know .
