MS Project 2002 v. 2003?

Gunkie

Hi there. I'm in the process of evaluating MS Project for a client,
even though my MBA is in finance and not operational management :) I
have a trial of MS Project 2003 that is about to expire, but the
meeting with my client is at the end of February, at which time my
trial will be expired.

I'm going to request a trial extension. With the assumption that the
request will fall through, I'm considering purchasing MS Project 2002
(or even 2000) on the cheap for demo purposes. My question is:

Are there considerable differences between MS Project 2003 & MS Project
2002? MS Project 2000?

Thanks a lot!

There are a fair number of differences between Project 2000 and 2002/2003.
One of the main ones is that P2000 allows for 1 baseline while the more
recent versions allow for 11. There's also the inevitable bugs fixes etc
that happen between releases. There's less difference between P2002 and
P2003 and especially between P2002 and P2003 Standard. The big change
between 2002 and 2003 took place with hte Professional version's enterprise
project managment tools and its interaction with Project Server.

Let us know how your request for an extension of the trial version goes.
I've never heard of such a thing happening and I'm not even sure if it's
technically possible to do it, based on what little I know about how the
trial version's time in service is determined.

Steve-

Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer my questions. We're looking
at the MS Project Standard because each business group is somewhat
autonomous but may share files once in a while.

I think I'll pick up a copy of MS Project 2002 [Std] and use that for
my demos.

And, no, I have heard nothing back from Microsoft and don't plan on
having my trial extended :)

Thanks again!
