MS Project 2007. My CPI shows up as 0 after entering actuals

why is my CPI = Zero after baselining and entering the actual hours??

Hello Zodwa,

In order for earned value data to be calculated you must have the
following:

Resources with costs (even $1 per hour will do) - unsure if you have
done this
Resource assigned to tasks - unsure if you have done this
Baseline saved - Done
Actual Data enter - Done

Earned value data is also calculated based upon either the current date
or the status date. If you are entering actual data from past dates,
make sure you also update the status date to the correct date. If there
is no status date, project will use the current date. Check Project >
Project Information.

I just created a play project with a few tasks,
added resources and rates = done,
baselined it - done
changed the status date to today's date - done
Started entering actuals - done
The CPI remains 0 for all tasks. I am really confused.

Sorry for the delay in replying. What is your earned value amount? I
assume your calculation is set to automatic? I assume you have actually
*assigned* the resources?

Dear Julie,
I have checked all the items you have suggested so far and I still get 0 for
the CPI CPI. Is there any way that I can you my small project plan? This
forum does not allow any document attachments.

Zip the file and send to:
passport 6847 AT maine.rr.com

Remove the spaces and replace the AT with an @.

For those of you following this thread, there were 3 issues in the file.
Resources were not assigned to one task, so CPI was zero. The status
date was not set and the tasks were tracked to a future date and the
earned value calculation was set to an incorrect baseline.
