MS Project - Combining Mutliple Projects to Find Log Jams

A

ajcbrooklyn

I have joined a new team at work and have been tasked with helpin
organize the group. My first main task is to find where certain lo
jams are occuring with shared services groups that work across al
projects. I have been able to add all the timelines I have into on
project but I am not sure the best way to use this to report. Is ther
a way to run something where I ccan see when areas are getting hit.

Like for example if each timeline has an event called Ops, is there
way to see overall when all the projects hit that point.

Sorry if this doesn't make sense

Hello ajcbrooklyn,

Are you trying to find where work for a resource overlaps (shared
services group) or where specific tasks (Ops) occur?

For either circumstance, you could use filters or a combination of
custom fields in the subproject files and filters.

To search for resources, use either the "Using Resource..." filter or
if you have created resource groups, use the "Resource Group" filter.
The filter will display only those tasks assigned to the specified
resource or resource group.

To search for tasks containing "Ops" in the name of the task, you
could add one of the flag fields (Flag1, Flag2, etc.) to the
subproject file and set the flag to "yes" either manually or through a
formula. Then create a custom filter in the consolidated project file
to search for "yes" in the Flag field.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
