MS Project Look Up Table Text Field

I have a text field that was entered in Project 2003 that has a look up table
with names in it; last name, first name. The table works fine in Project
2003 (i.e. I can see all the names) but when I open up the same file with
Project 2007 on a different computer (saving it as a Project 2003 file) I can
only see text values that do not have a comma separator. In fact, all the
names with commas are red in the look up table value column and I get the
following message: "One or more code valuies in the lookup table is invalid.
A value is invalid when it doesn not match the mask defined for the code,
includes the separator character, is a duplicate of another value or exceeds
255 characters in length". I'm pretty sure the problem is with the comma
between the last and first names. I just can't figure out how to resolve the
problem and be able to keep the lookup table with last name, first name.

Hi Mach25,

I'm sorry to say that I can reproduce exactly what you report. The
problem is with the comma -- what the error message describes as "the
separator character." The only work around I can quickly suggest is to
edit the list in Project 2007 and change the comma to a different
character -- perhaps a colon or semicolon. Those appear to work just
fine.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thanks Julie. I decided to just delete the comma and it's working fine. The
odd thing is on the computer with person who put the names in with the comma
it works fine in MSProject 2003.

Hi Mach25,

You're welcome for the assistance and thanks for the feedback.

To your point of it works fine in 2003, yes, it does. There have been
several reports of look up fields in Project 2007 not working quite
correctly.
