i bought my laptop from Dell in 2001 and bought Office Pro 2000 at that time.
A year ago, I purchased the upgrade to Office Pro 2003 (with Business
Contact Manager). I have reformatted my hard drive twice in the last 2
months and it takes twice as long because I have to install the 2000 version
and thn upgrade it. I contacted MS to replace the 4 reinstallation CDs I had
with the 2 reinstallation CDs for the full version of MS Office Pro 2003 with
BCM to save time if I have to reformat again. Unfortunately, they were not
willing to do the replacement. I have shown customer loyalty to the product
by upgrading, but MS has shown no loyalty to me.

If you wanted the full version of Office 2003, you should have purchased
it in the first place. But you don't have to actually install Office
2000 in order to install the Office 2003 upgrade. When Office 2003
prompts you for the qualifying product, insert Office 2000 CD1 into the
CD-ROM drive and browse to it, let Office 2003 "see" it, and then
continue with the Office 2003 installation.
