my computer has windows XP PRo operating system & Office XP Pro , MS WORD opens very slowly , min 30 sec to open

Are you running Norton AV?

Norton had forgotten to update its Verisign certificate which ran out on the
7th January. This should now have been resolved

Norton posted a silly suggested fix at
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...nsf&view=docid&dtype=&prod=&ver=&osv=&osv_lvl

A better plan, which will not compromise security, would be to disable the
NAV Office Plug-in. You do so via Norton AV > options > miscellaneous.
