can 2 versions of office, specifically
office 2000 and office 2003 be installed on the same pc running w2k or winxp
if so are there any settings that have to be configured?
thanks

Install 2k first, custom install to a specific Folder, eg Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Office2k
Then update Office, modify any shortcuts, eg Word > Word2k
Finally install 2003, custom install unneccessary as it installs to a
version specific folder by default.
Only a single instance of outlook can be installed, I'd reccommend OL2003.

thanks for the help, sounds easy enuf
especially the info about outlook one instance only
one thing you said tho, 'then update office' brings up the general question
if there are updates to office 2000 and office 2003, (i suspect there are no
more 2000 updates)
those updates are aware of which office they apply to?
or do i have to direct them myself?

You install Office2k, then run Office update, it will update to the latest
2k sp release - I'm unsure what date that would be to.
Once 2003 is installed and you run office update it will update & install
what is reqired to the relevent office app
