Multiple tasks - 1 resource

Hi,

I have what may seem a stupid question (new to Project):

I have a project with a lot of concurrent tasks. I have 1 single resource
only. I would like to assign that resource on each task, and I would like
the time to be spread evenly between all task on any given day.
Right now, if I assign the same resource to all the task, I end up with 18h
workload days!!! I would like the 8h/day to be the fixed variable.

How do I do that?

Thanks.....

Hi V
You need to examine the MS Project golden rule of Work =
Duration times (resource) Units.
To help in this instance I suggest:
- Create a little test plan
- create Tasks 1 thru 3, with a duration of 5 days for each
- Do not link the tasks
- Insert a column for Type (Insert Column/Type)
- Similarly, Insert a column for Work
- Assign a resource (R1) to each task
- Change the Type on each task to Fixed Work
- Now alter (increase) the duration of each task until the
resource is not overallocated. Check this by View/
Resource Usage.
Feel free to contact me by email for further explanation.
