Music with Java Script

I have songs that are currently set to background music. I have permission to
use the songs. I have learned that many people are irritated by music and
will leave the website. After searching here, I found a suggestion about Java
Script. The coding I am using opens a cute little bar for Windows Media
Player, allowing the viewer to turn it on or off. I have two questions:

1. In Web Page Preview, it works fine by pulling the file from my C: drive.
I am using Coffee Cup FTP to upload the site. Will I have to convert the
music files to web addresses before uploading them?
2. I have permission to use the music because they are background and cannot
be lifted. When I right click the Windows Media Player control bar, it
identifies the source of the file in Properties. Is there any way to hide
that information so no one can get to the file? If it's uploaded through my
C: drive, will others be able to access it?

To get it to work on your site, you need to upload the music file to your
site and rewrite the javascript to point to where you put it on your
website. Most people find that creating a subfolder on your site to hold
downloadable files better than putting them in the index_files folder. You
could do the same with your music. Just log on with Coffee cup and create
you folder...say "music" at the same level in the directory as the index.htm
file and the index_files folder.

As per stealing the file....I don't know of a solution. In general I believe
that if you can see a picture, hear a file, see a movie, there is a way to
steal it. Someone else will have to offer a solution if there is one.

I'm sorry, I have to call BS on this. Maybe on two calls. First, I don't
know of a company that licenses music "because it is background music
and can't be lifted" and secondly because it can be "lifted."

Secondly, the sound file is being downloaded to the visitor's computer.
It's a piece of cake to set the browser to save a file to the HD rather
than play

Sounds to me like you are worried about Copyright infringement and
that's why you are so concerned about visitors saving the file.

Of course, I could be wrong and I may not have ghosts stealing knives,
flashlights and pressure cookers. They are all in a spare closet in a
different time warp.
