my computer won't start properly

my other computer won't start. The windows pane comes up then a message
saying that the computer didn't shut down properly maybe due to a power
failure. It gives me options for example starting in safe mode, however
whichever option I select leads to a crunching noise but nothing else. Has
anyone any suggestions. Thank you

It doesn't sound good, but it's definitely not an Office question, which is
what this group deals with. You might try one of the groups for your version
of Windows.
