My hyperlinked cross references in documents from earlier version.

My company recently rolled out Word 2003 for us to use. When I try to
navigate to a hyperlink from a cross reference, it does not go to the
referenced paragraph, page, etc.

Are you pressing Ctrl while clicking? You should be getting a ScreenTip
saying "Ctrl+Click to follow link." If you don't want to have to do this,
clear the corresponding check box on the Edit tab of Tools | Options.
