my new email messages are no longer highlighted?

My newly arrived email messages are no longer bolded showing they haven't
been opened?

Eh... yes?
You might want to clarify your question a bit. Also, don't forget to include
your version of Outlook and type of mail account and what you changed since
it last worked.

My guess;
Start with verifying your Automatic Formatting rules or reset your view for
that folder;
View-> Arrange By-> Custom...
