My pst is 1 gig+---how can I slim down?

Dave

I get a lot of email and save all the non-spam. I need to
be able to hunt up old email quickly, by sender, key word,
date, or topic.
By now my windows.pst is over a gig, and searches etc.
take forever.
I never mastered archiving because it seemed to me that
the only way to keep old email available for these
searches was to keep it in the current windows.pst. NOw I
think I have to do something.
Suggestions? Is there a way to reduce the bloat while not
giving up my ability to search and find stored info?
Thanks.

Archiving is a good idea and it's actually very easy to get your data back
once you've archived it. Once you've read up on archiving, look at the
following article for instructions on viewing your archived data later:

Why dont you back up the mail to a cd or cds by the sound of it. Save the mails on cd per sender or date or however you want to be able to search.
