My templates aren't activated - Word 2003

Ran Chermesh

Hi,
I'm running Word 2003 on a WinXP (SP2) os.
Whenever I try to create a new document using any of my templates
(File=New=select a template), I get a blank window.
The templates, however, do exist. When I run a search for a dot file,
I find then all. I can open a template file, save it as doc, and
continue my work.
Still, that's not the way the program is designed to act.
What's wrong? Why can I use template in a conventional fashion?

Actually, for some bizarre reason, W2003 _does_ let you save a template as a
document, stripping out any AutoText. I think this was a _bad_ change, but
it is there.

Thanks Graham. I started word with the /a parameter and the problem
disappeard.
Do I still have to change my registry keys?

That depends on whether starting it normally causes the problem to recur. If
it remains OK - leave it alone.
