I want to run an animation then navigate to the next slide. Any hint would
be greatly appreciated

I hope I understood correctly what you are trying to do. I would use the
Slide Transition under the Menu Slide Show.
In the task pane under the section "Advance slide" I would click
"Automatically after" and enter the amount of seconds.

Is this what you were after?!

I'm thinking that you want the slide to pause and wait until you trigger the
last animation, then you want it to transition to the next slide immediately
after the animation is complete. Is this correct?

If you apply the 'Automatically advance after xx seconds' option, the
animations will not wait, they will be automatically activated (even if set
to manual) by PowerPoint in order to obtain the transition after xx seconds.
This is logical and reasonable, since the slides are considered to have a
higher informational priority than the animations.

** Do not despair **

One technique to make things appear as you have described is to fake the
transition. This is a smoke-and-mirrors solution that illustrates how what
is shown is not always what is seen. Add a new slide between Slide A
(moving from) and Slide B (moving to). Save the Slide A image (as it exists
before "the last animation") as a JPG to the hard drive. Then insert this
JPG image of slide A on the new slide. "The last animation" is the
animation effect that you want to auto-advance after. Move "the Last
Animation" from Slide A to the new slide. Set the transition on the new
slide to 'No Transition' and Automatically advance after 2 seconds'. Set
the animation to begin after previous.

Now, what will happen is this ....

Slide A
The presentation will stop and hold as long as you need it to on Slide A.
Any animations prior to the last will run as you activate them. When you
hit the "last animation" you will be immediately sent to

The New Slide.
However, since there is no difference between the image of this new slide
and the previous image of Slide A, there will be no visible change. The
"Last Animation" will start (as if it was triggered by the advance) and
finish, then the slide presentation will auto advance to

Slide B.

This sounds way more confusing then it really is. If you need additional
help please post back to the News Group, or if you need an example file,
contact me at the address in my signature.
