Need help migrating Word macros from 97 to 2002

I'm moving someone from Office 97 to 2002 in an workplace environment
(it's also a move from one PC to another). She asked if I could
preserve her Word macros, which she has about 70 of, all of which are
contained in Normal.dot. I thought I could just drop in the
'templates' directory of Office 2002 and they'd be there. But as
someone told me, that won't work. I was also told there is no
official Microsoft-provided way of migrating these macros. He said my
best bet would be to search the net for a 3rd party conversion utility
to do this. Does anyone know of such a tool, or a way to do this?

I couldn't find anything in O97 like the "Save my settings"
wizard found in newer versions. Any ideas would be appreciated!

No conversions is necessary - I'm not sure who told you all of this
but hopefully they didn't charge you for their 'advice'. ;-)

If the macros are in her Normal.dot then you can replace the
Normal.dot for Word 2002 with her old one.

You can also use the Organizer found under Tools/Templates and Add-ins
to copy the macros from the old Normal.dot to the new Normal.dot.

Or, you could change the name of the her old Normal.dot to anything
but Normal.dot and place it in her Startup folder. In this scenario
the template will load when Word starts and the macros will be
available to all documents. You can find the location of her Word
Startup folder by going to Tools/Options/File Locations.

The last method is what I recommend since she has around 70 macros and
a global template is a little more protected than Normal.dot. Plus,
since there are so many she may want to do a little re-organizing and
place them in various templates. Here's an article with more
information if interested:
