Need Help, please!

I have numerous powerpoint files that were deleted and later retrieved (don't
ask... super long story that upsets me). However, when I try to open the
majority of them now, I receive this message:

"Powerpoint could not open ...... because no converter for this file type is
installed"

I have no clue what this means! Some of them opened just fine; no problem.
But like I said, the majority will not open (I'm talking about fifty or so
files).

Anyone have any suggestions? I'd really appreciate it!!!

Which version of PowerPoint are you using now, and what is the vintage of the files your trying to open. Sounds like your using PowerPoint 2007 and trying to open a PowerPoint 95 file.

I'm using 2003, and the files that won't open are both from the 2000 and 2003
versions. Do you think there's anything I can do to fix this?

oh, and BTW--i tried opening them with 2000 as well, but that didn't work
either; got the same message pop up.
