New Hardrive - Cloned it but Office is messed up!

P

Prof G

My IT support guys can't figure this one out... hopefully one of you can.

My old hard drive was about to die, so I bought a new one (Western Digital
80 gig).
I used the software that came with the new drive to clone my old drive.
Everything was copied over very nicely, except for my MS Office XP Pro stuff.
The icons are gone and some programs don't work properly.
I got a message, suggesting I get out my disks and run 'setup' and 'repair'.
When I put in the disk and tried to run setup, I get:
"This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package
exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to
verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package." I tried to run
setup everyway I know how (from start menu, from My Computer, etc)

My IT guy tried his disk too and got the same message.

OK, so I went into the Control Panel, "Add or Remove Programs" and tried to
remove the program for a fresh install. I got the same message.

I tried to download all the updates from microsoft updates - I am all up to
date.
I tried all this with my old drive as the slave and with my old drive
completely disconnected.

What do I do now?
Whoever can offer advice will be tremendously appreciated!
