New Host

I understand that this newsgroup isn't necessarily about hosts, but
after the night I'm having with mine I'm very likely going to get a new
one. I'm interested in any opinions on how one finds a good, relatively
low-cost host. I know there are several "review" sites online, but I'm
not sure how much to trust them.

Thanks,

About 50MB tops, I suppose. Not sure if I want to stay with Windows or
go with Linux/Unix. My current account is Windows and I don't seem to
be able to explore all the things I'd like to try, but I'm not sure if
that is a host limitation or a Windows limitation. One thing I (think)
I know I'd like to explore more is php.

Mine's Linux. Hate to do "sales" here, but the truth is, I don't host to
make money, really. It's more as a convenience to my clients. I can give you
50MB, unlimited email, php/MySQL (unlimited DBs), for maybe $50/year. All
those "free" Fantastico programs come with it, so you could really go to
town on the PHP stuff.

See this, Randy: http://www.webmasterstop.com/110.html
For instance, you can go into Fantastico, and with a button, install phpBB
or WordPress blog or one of about 10 content management systems, 6 customer
relationship systems, 3 different shopping carts, etc. You could contact me
off the board, and I'll show you a control panel for a web that I'm hosting
but not using.
