New messages in Inbox

Microsoft Outlook XP

Using Windows XP sp1a and Outlook XP I'm having trouble with new incoming
messages.

New mesages do not appear unless I click on another folder or start a new
email, and then return to the Inbox. Any Guru out there who may have an
idea of what would cause this?
