New version of Outlook for OSX

I've just heard on the grapevine that Microsoft are releasing a new
version of Outlook for OSX which replaces Entourage.

Is there any truth in this?

About 0% truth but then again I can't speak for Microsoft.

The MacBU is gearing it's focus to enabling Entourage to be the
Microsoft Exchange client for Mac OS X. This is because it would take a
lot of resources to create a port of Outlook to Mac and they've
determined the resources are better spent integrating Entourage
(something that already exists) with Exchange instead of starting
something new.

Entourage may be a far cry from Outlook but it's only in its second
generation of Exchange support. It should only get better.

I just want to add that it might be cheaper to set up Terminal Services
and ask users to use it for Outlook/Exchange. Entourage 2004 has some
Exchange support using WebDAV, but it's not like Outlook. There are
still some outstanding issues...

I have just spoken to my contact in the Microsoft Marketing Dept. and her
official answer is that Entourage going to remain the email client for Mac.
I work for MS, so I trust the answer given to me to be correct.
