No graphics are stored in IE's cache

J

JonM

I used Frontpage to create a site and most of the pages contain gif's of
jpg's, however the gif's and jpg's always seem to be loaded from the server
and not the local IE cache - if 'view files' in IE temporary files I see
saved HMT & PHP files from my site but no gif's of jpg's. How can get my
graphics cached as well as my htm/php code?

The only thing I can see that is unusual is the response headers from
your server include the line:

Pragma: no-cache

However, I would expect this to also prevent the caching of the pages
as well as images.

That plus the fact that none of the forms work because the submit button is not in the form and calls a script that does not exist

Hi Ron,

As my site is hosted, is this something I can override or is it a server
setting I need to get my hoster to change?

Hi Stefan,

Be gentle this is my first attempt at a website! Is the submit not handled
by the function submitform with the action from the form?

Stefan B Rusynko

Obviously not since I get a completely blank page no matter what I "submit" w/ the next button
- have you actually tested it?

Your button has <a href="javascript:%20submitform()"> not <a href="javascript:submitform()">
And TBMK you would need to reference the form collection object (not an unknown navigation object) in your function submitform() if
it will work at all
You have
document.Navigation.submit();
and should probably be using
document.forms[0].submit()

Thanks for the feedback, yes, it works for me. I'll take a look.

Hi Stefan,

Hopefully the NEXT will work for you now. Not sure why it previously worked
for me and not you.

Having researched this further I thought I would come back to report on
findings. The problem is to do with gzip compression of graphic images on the
server. It appears there are issues in some release of IE that will not cache
these images.The fix, is to edit the .htaccess file to include mod_gzip_on
No, however you may find issues if you are using the FP extensions.
