No notify when emails arrive

I've got Outlook 2003. When I had outlook XP, It'd see an envelope in tmy
systray. Now that I have outlook 2003, there's nothing to tell me I've got
an email. Am I missing something. What didn't I do ... or is this a bug?

Thanks. Diana

To Milly and Ben,
Yes ... that was it. It's always defaulted to that setting ...and of
course, this time it had that desktop view. It's nice, but it's not
suitable for my needs.
Thanks. Diana

I thought I'd replied to this, but I guess I didn't.
That did the trick.
It would appear that it defaults to the semi transparent image of the
subject of the email (or whatever it was that it displayed). A new display
feature, obviously ... which I'd barely noticed.
Thanks.

That's the New Mail Desktop Notificatation feature - which I really like,
actually. You can delete the message right from there - if the message
is very short you can actually read it all right there too.
