hello,

i´m creating an autostart-cd and my presentation should run in kiosk-mode. in ppt 2000 and 97 (especially ppt-viewer) the presentation restarts after 5 minutes of inactivity by default. i have to deactivate this feature or at least modify the time interval.

i found a freeware-plug-in for ppt-xp (http://officerone.tripod.com/kioskassist/kioskassist.html) but i only use ppt 2000. furthermore i expect it will not work with the viewer. what can i do?

i hope you have any ideas,
greetings,

To deactivate the 5min restart for kiosk shows, use the ShowMouse utility
from http://officerone.tripod.com/ - when ShowMouse is active, it will
disable the kiosk reset feature.

PowerPoint 2002 actually has this kiosk reset feature missing and
KioskAssistant add-in brings it back - kind of opposite than what you need.

But, add-ins won't work with the Viewer. By the way, I can't fine ShowMouse
today. Is it still on your website?

ShowMouse isn't VBA or macros. Its a small Windows' application that sits in
Windows Tray. It would work without getting you any security alert and with
PowerPoint Viewer too.

thx,
but there is another problem with ShowMouse: i don`t want to use vba/macros.
if there are any macros, powerpoint will start with a security alert. and i
want to distribute my cd to many external people... (looks not professional
enough).
any other ideas?
will it work to save the presentation once with xp and afterwards view it
with ppt-viewer?
(i will try at home, but there is little hope, i think)

thx again,
sascha

Ah, that makes the difference then. I was looking for an add-in. Thanks
for setting me straight.

ShowMouse is on the utilities page -

ShowMouse is a application that sits in Windows Tray (alongwith the clock,
etc). It runs with all PowerPoint versions as well as with the PowerPoint
Viewer.

thanks again,
but that isn't a solution for my problem either. ShowMouse works on my
own computer, but i have to distribute my presentation to many different
users and i don`t want to put a program on the cdrom that they have to
install themselves. if there isn't an easier solution i have to accept
the inactivity-limitations.
