No "W" icon for Word Documents

Thankyou. It worked just fine. Could not find the installer file so I put it
in system32. Thanks for hanging in there with me. FYI - Looked in Help\About
Word. Found "Office Word 2003 (11.6568.6568) SP2". Very strange, but it works
perfectly now.

MS Office apps, such as MS Word are not part of Windows, but are sold separately.

MS Windows Wordpad is the 'word processor' included with Windows in Start=>Programs=>Accessories

1. Don't hijack someone else's thread, that's unacceptable behavior in
ANY news group, start your own thread.

1. Buy the program.

Rather than bother with these installer directories, just choose the icon
from the program itself, in this case winword.exe. For office XP it's here:

\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Winword.exe

I have problems with the installer directories every time I do a backup and
restore of paritions to defrag them (I do windiff's in between and never see
any files missing, but the installer files often just go away).
