non default page colors

is it possible to set the page color to a color other than the 17 or so
default colors? All of those are very light colors, and i would like to set
the background to black and use high contrast pen colors. The only workaround
i have found so far is to create a picture that is solid black and set it as
the background picture. However, when doing this you cannot use auto page
size or you will move beyond the edge of the picture. It would be nice to be
able to set it to just use black as the default page color. Is this possible?

No; the colors in the various dialog boxes for page background, section
color, etc. are the only colors available.
