When I open a word document a saved file opens instead of normal.doc and I cant fathom how to restore it to the original setting. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do a search for normal.dot. Delete or rename the file.
Open Word and a new normal.dot will be creates. {Note: it is normal.dot not
normal.doc}
