Norton System Works Speed Disk 2004 Problem

Has anyone ever had a problem after installing Microsoft
Office 2003 when Norton System Works 2004 is loaded where
if you run Disk Defragmenter or Norton's Speed Disk it
will take literally 3 to 4 days to optimize a fast
computer with a fast hard drive? I sure have noticed this
and Symantec's website has old old instructions for
Office 2000 only which don't apply to Office 2003 at
all. They said to Remove the "File Search" feature (not
possible so far that I've found on Office 2003)
which "constantly" accesses the hard drive. Let me know
if anyone knows a solution or fix for this problem? Thank
you!

Remove Systemworks and your system works much better.
Symantec has created a system destroyer there. It burrows
into every little nook and cranny of your system causing
all sorts of problems. The defragger doesn't defrag, it a
file packer, the XP systems defragger is much better.
Once I removed Systemworks my machine regained all of its
speed and functionality. Sadly I blamed the problems on
Microsoft and actually returned the first XP Pro I bought.

Thanks for the Advice, removed all the Norton System
Works then tried running the tried and true Microsoft
Windows Defragmenter and it's still running after 24
hours and has only done 10% of the fast Maxtor 250GB
Serial ATA Hard Drive, before this I also tested the hard
drive to make sure it's okay and it tested out to be
perfectly operating. So, back to the trying to find
another solution? Last time I had to reformat the hard
drive and that was due to Windows XP Professional bugs
two months ago. Guess a person should plan on
reformatting a hard drive and reloading Windows XP
versions on a monthly basis perhaps?

Uh, no. I have had one system running Windows XP Pro since it released
without problems;. I find that most "system protection/optimizer" programs
like Norton and McAfee cause more problems than they are likely to detect
and stopped using them years ago. Haven't had a single problem since.
