Don,

The 'innocent until proven guilty' is about who has the responsibility
of proving the case, in the US, it's the prosecutor. The French used to
have (may still have?) the opposite approach, where an accused person
had to prove his/her innocence. That would be like you having to prove
you have stopped beating your wife.

Well if they passed such a law it is only because they want to hold innocent
people illegally in inhumane conditions.

The US will pay the price everyday in Iraq and elsewhere for holding these
people illegally, torturing them, and holding them in totally inhumane
conditions without the allowance of lawyers or relatives.
As long as you Americans are happy to pay the price - so be it.

It is always the best to treat innocent people in a humane civil rights way,
and the preferred option to bring peace.
Violence, torture, inhumane living conditions towards people held illegally
is most definitely not the correct way.

--

The US should free all those
illegally held prisoners they are
torturing, abusing and denying
human rights being held at
Guantanamo Bay.

But it wouldn't be illegal, as it would be allowed by law.

You're replying to my post here, and I'm not an American.

David,

Are you at least willing to debate your SENTENCE below one on one? You
can post a yes or no, or have you kill-filed me? If so, maybe someone
will include my message in a reply so that you can or will read and at
least answer. Do you not feel confident stating your position vis-a-vis
a small town newspaper publisher's? I'm sure others would like to be
included in private e-mail, a reply to all message.

If you feel strongly about a subject, you ought to be able to defend it.
Do you? Will you?

Mike

Ed,

David has never been one to let facts get in the way of a rant. He
refuses to debate, meaning he has no conviction. He seeks to rile, not
convince or persuade.

I like David. But he is hiding behind usenet, posting untrue messages
without any concern about backing them up with facts or holding his own
in a one on one debate. I always thought he felt himself at least
intellectually equal to most of us, but I have to wonder if he cannot
accept a simple challenge to take this off usenet and do it in private.

IMO, until he can do this, his musings are just rants that, at the
least, are fun to poke fun at when one needs a break from the important
things of life.

Mike, I would never ever kill file anybody. That is only done by the weak
and spineless.

So all those times we hear the *Plonk* of users hitting the bottom of your
killfile bin, it's an audial illusion?

Ed I have nought in my kill file - and never would.

Kill files are only for the gutless, spineless and weak.

So why do you always shout *PLONK*?

<plonk> not *PLONK*
However, that does not mean they go into a kill file, it is just they are
not worth bothering with.

No, Google for the definition of plonk and you will find that it
specifically the sound that a user makes as it hits the bottom of the
killfile bin.

Ed you should consider that Google is wrong and I am right.

Ah, so it's another one of those situations where the rest of the world is
wrong and you are right.
