O2K7 install over O2K3 leaves old Office in place

complete - with 2 conflicting versions of Outlook
is this intended ?

Malcolm,

Almost certainly not!

I'm guessing here, but did you have office 2003 in C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office? I think the Office 2007 installer will attempt
to go there by default. It should detect a conflict though.

If I'm installing two versions of Office on the same machine I install
each into a directory such as C:\Program Files\Office 10 etc. It works
for me.

I guess what you do next depends on what problems you are having.

Hi Andrew,
Actually its F:\Program Files\Microsoft Office on my dual boot system.
However I put this issue on hold and backed this drive up to DVD (ghost) and
did a clean install of Vista B2 to F: and [just for fun] installed O2k7 on
top.
I wasn't asked any questions during install other than place to put progs
and the install key.
All seems to be working OK on this setup, but its very early days.

Any idea where I should post bug for this ? as it involves two beta groups.

Are we sure it's a bug? I "upgraded" to Office 12 and it did the same for
me - leaving the icons for Office 2003 intact, but adding icons for the 2007
version. Both versions of Word appear to work (although Word 2003 briefly
shows an "installing..." dialogue). The old version of Outlook, however,
does not.

I have c:\program files\microsoft office with subdirectories of office,
office10, office11 and office12.
