Odd printing problem

Not sure if this is an IE, Outlook, or XP Pro problem, but here goes:

Today, I tried to print a web page out of IE6, but the data was not sent to
the printer queue. I imported the page into Word and printed it from there
successfully. I then tried to print an Email message from Outlook10.26 -
same result.

I'm running two printers: a laser off of LPT1, and an inkjet off of a USB
port.

I've had the same setup running without glitches for some time now, until
today.

Suggestions?

Thanks in advance...

It's probably IE that is the problem.

In IE, select File | Page Setup. Check the margins - they should all be set
to .75 or smaller.

Also, this may sound pointless, but try reinstalling the drivers for both
printers.

Didn't work. Prints fine from other applications. Haven't changed any
settings for months. Don't even get the printer icon in the task bar when I
try to print from IE or Outlook. Any other suggestions?

Check your Event Log | System (Start | Settings | Control Panel |
Administrative Tools | Event Viewer). Is the Print Spooler service shutting
down (should see a warning or error in the System log for Print Spooler or
Service Control Manager).

Also, when this happens, check the Services applet (Start | Settings |
Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services). Scroll down to the Print
Spooler service. Is it still running?

Just out of curiosity, is this laser printer an HP LaserJet 4000 or 4050?

It gets stranger and stranger. When I try to open ANY Administrative Tools
applet, the hourglass comes on like the program is starting, and
then.....stops! Beginning to sound like an XP problem to me.

Thanks anyway...

OK - got the Admin Tools working with a reboot - no spooler warnings,
spooler is running. HP 6P on LPT1, HP DeskJet 930c on USB port. Any other
suggestions?
