I just tried to open my resume and the message I get is that

"this application must be installed to run. Please run setup from the
location where you originally installed the application"

Any indication of why this would occur?

OS WinMe
VR Word 2000

Is it only your resume or any document?

Then probably the resume is corrupt. This may work if you are lucky:

Open a new blank document and then use Insert, File and see if the Resume
document will insert into the new blank.

If it doesn't work, then open the document by using File, Open, choosing the
Recover Text from Any File option and select the Resume and it should open.
Although you will lose all of the formatting, you should be able to rescue
all of the information and be able to reproduce it again without having to
look up all those dates again!

BTW, make sure that you go back into File, Open afterwards and change the
Recover Text from Any File option back to Word Document as this setting is
sticky in Word 2000 (in later versions it reverts back on its own) or you
may lose formatting opening other documents.

: Ive tried further docs and the program itself.

huh .... well I think that will uninstall Office 2002.

Going back to operating Word 2000.

Thanks for your assistance.

YOU SAID YOU ARE USING WORD 2000. YOU NEVER MENTIONED OFFICE 2003. DO YOU
KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOU ARE DOING!

Terry, take it easy ... not Office 2003 ... 2002.

I thought I was using word 2000. When I installed Office 2002 this may have
updated the program or something.

Besides, this was sometime ago and as mentioned all of a sudden the program
is not working and cannot get into any of the docs or program.

I can understand Terry's frustration.
You do not seem to know just which version of Word you are complaining
about.
Nor do you understand the difference between starting a program,Word in
this case, and opening a document once Word is running.
Stick to the first problem first, getting Word running, then most likely
all your documents will open.
Your error message implies Word 200x is not installed and must be, to
run. Are you trying to run it from the distribution CD?

As far as I know the installation of office 2002 I did not want the word
program, which, shows under the add/remove option.

I was wondering if this may have come into some sort of conflict, hence, the
problem of the files not opening, nor am I not able to open the word program.

Now Ive tried to set up from cd and is asking for my product code..

Actually managed to write it down quick enough ... took a couple tries. Your
right it didnt match up with anything in the registry.

Ok. Back to the start.

I tried to open my resume and couldnt access it. Tries a few other docs and
the same. When I tried to open the word program this is the message I got.

'this application must be installed to run. Please run setup from the
loation where you originally installed the application'

Like I mentioned, I had thought that the Office program may have interferred
with something and thats I had brought it up. Im not sure why this all of
sudden occured.

So do I just reinstall of the cd?

Thanks guys!

Yes.

Sorry for the typos in the previous answer.

Finally a clear description of the problem. It only took seven tries.
;-)

I'd say you installed Office, logged on as another user, and Office
isn't installed for the current profile. Try reinstalling and see if
that clears up the problem.

Im trying to install Word 2000 SR1.

It asks me for the 25 key code.

When I try to open the program I get a brief view of the program opening and
have managed to write down the key when you open the program (took a couple
times mind you).

When I put in from the install it saying that it is not the right one.

There has got be a file where I can obtain the license information. Anywhere
on the registry?

If you are referring to what you see on the Splash screen then that
isn't the key. A utility such as Belarc Advisor may find it for you:
http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html

Although I seem to recall reading it doesn't find the key for Office
2000. Hopefully someone will add a correction if that's the case. :)
