OFF2000: Products That Qualify for the Microsoft Office Upgrade

Bobby

I am trying to install Microsoft Office 2000 Professional (UPGRADE) over a
qualifying product, Microsoft Works with Money. I believe this is a
qualifying product. However when I try to install MS OFFICE 2000 PROFESSIONAL
I get a message that asks for the "drive letter" where a qualifying product
is installed. I tried to contact MICROSOFT TECHNICAL SUPPORT and I noticed
they want $35.00.

Is there another way to work through this issue without having shell out
$35.00?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you put your Works CD in and point to that, does the install continue as
expected?

Buy a copy of Microsoft Works 4.5, which is available from a
number of online vendors for less than $15, and use that as your
qualifying product.

JoAnn,

Thanks for the quick response. My Microsoft Works version is 7.0. Does that
qualify?

Garfield-n-Odie,

Thanks for your quick response. I was hoping not to have any out of pocket
expense. But if I can't come up with another alternative that is exactly what
I will do.

Thanks for your help.

From http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;210437, the
following is a qualifying product:

Microsoft Works, Works Deluxe, and Works Suite.

Version 3.0 or later for MS-DOS-based computers, Windows and Windows NT
Workstation. This includes Microsoft Works 6.0 and Microsoft Works Suite
2001.

Since you have Works Suite 7, it's not a qualifying product. It must have
been released after Office 2000. You could use an upgrade for Office 2003
provided your system meets/exceeds the hardware requirements.
